Text: Mark 5:25-34

Song lyrics for Reach out to Jesus

Ÿ Is your burden heavy as you bear it all alone

Ÿ Does the road you travel harbor danger yet unknown

Ÿ Are you growing weary in the struggle of it all

Ÿ Jesus will help you when on his name you call

Ÿ He is always there hearing every prayer Faithful and true

Ÿ Walking by his side in his love we hide All the day through

Ÿ When you get discouraged just remember what to do

Ÿ Reach out to Jesus he’s reaching out to you

Ÿ Is the life you’re living filled with sorrow and despair

Ÿ Does the future press you with it’s worry and it’s care

Ÿ Are you tired and friendless have you almost lost your way

Ÿ Jesus will help you just come to him today

Ÿ He is always there hearing every prayer Faithful and true

Ÿ Walking by his side in his love we hide All the day through

Ÿ When you get discouraged just remember what to do

Ÿ Reach out to Jesus he’s reaching out to you

I. REACH OUT to JESUS when you need HELP

Matthew 5:25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,

Ÿ For twelve years this woman had been hemorrhaging

Ÿ We are born into the world with an issue of blood

Ÿ As blood descendants of Adam and Eve we have the issue of sin

Ÿ Reach out to Jesus for help with your issue

LORD, by thy favor thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled. I cried to thee, O LORD; and unto the LORD I made supplication. What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth? Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my helper. Psalm 30:7-10

Matthew 5:26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,

Ÿ The best physicians, with best advice and the best medicine

Ÿ Still they could not help, in fact she got worse

Ÿ Many religions offer advice that cannot save a soul

Ÿ Priests, Buddhist monks and Ayatollahs have no prescription for sin

Ÿ They will not help you get better but grow worse

Ÿ Reach out to Jesus for help with his advice

For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:15,16

Matthew 5:27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.

Ÿ Many had received help from Jesus already

Ÿ Still many more sought help as they pressed in close to him

Ÿ Look around and you will see Jesus is still helping people

Ÿ Those who attempt to get close to him find the help they need

Ÿ Reach out to Jesus who helps those who are needy

For he shall deliver the needy when he crieth; the poor also, and him that hath no helper. He shall spare the poor and needy, and shall save the souls of the needy. He shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence: and precious shall their blood be in his sight. Psalm 72:12-14

II. REACH OUT to JESUS when you need HEALED

Matthew 5:28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.

Ÿ She believed Jesus could heal her body privately

Ÿ Her issue did not to be confessed publicly

Ÿ You must believe that Jesus can heal your besetting sins

Ÿ Reach out to Jesus for your hidden faults

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1,2

Matthew 5:29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.

Ÿ Immediately her burdens were lifted

Ÿ When you leave your burdens at the cross they are gone

Those whom Christ heals of the disease of sin, that bloody issue, cannot but experience in themselves a universal change for the better. Henry

Ÿ Reach out to Jesus for relief from your burdens

Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly

in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30

Matthew 5:30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue (power) had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?

Ÿ The power of dynamite exploded out of him

Ÿ He has the power to blast the sin out of your life

Ÿ Have you experienced that life changing power?

Ÿ Reach out to Jesus for the power of transformation

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:1,2

III. REACH OUT to JESUS when you need HOPE

Matthew 5:31 And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?

Ÿ Although multitudes seek him, he cares about you

Ÿ Men may often pretend, but do they really care

Ÿ He desires to honor those who honor him

Ÿ Reach out to Jesus for hope somebody cares

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.1 Peter 5:6,7

Matthew 5:32 And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.

Ÿ The eyes of the LORD see all things

As secret acts of sin, so secret acts of faith, are known to the Lord Jesus, and are under his eye. If believers derive virtue from Christ ever so closely, he knows it, and is pleased with it. Henry

Ÿ Reach out to Jesus for hope that somebody loves you

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit

searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.1 Corinthians 2:9,10

Matthew 5:33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.

Ÿ She was so full of fear that she trembled about that which was done

Ÿ Perhaps she was afraid she did something wrong

Ÿ Did she have a right to touch his clothing so boldly

Ÿ It is with such undeserving humility that we must seek his favor

Ÿ She fell down and confessed all the truth to him

Ÿ Reach out to Jesus for hope that all is forgiven

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins,

and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

Matthew 5:34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.

Ÿ The woman is assured that her faith has delivered a cure

Ÿ Her troubles are over and she can finally be at peace

Ÿ What Jesus cures he makes complete

Ÿ Reach out to Jesus for hope that the impossible will be possible

Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: Philippians 1:4-6
